Rocking to Sleep Could Help Adults


We all know babies get rocked to sleep, but what about adults? According to a study published in the journal Current Biology, being rocked may help adults fall asleep faster, sleep deeper and longer, and better consolidate memories while sleeping.

The study focused on 10 women and 8 men, who were all healthy and between the ages of 20 and 27 years. Teams from the universities of Lausanne and Geneva conducted the study and found that when rocked, participants tended to sleep sooner and deeper, and woke up fewer times during the night. They were also better at recalling memories given to them before the sleep session.
