It has long been thought that you can’t catch up on lost sleep by staying in bed longer on the weekend. However, a study published in the Journal of Sleep Research questioned that thought. The study suggested that sleeping in on days off could cancel out at least some of the health risks associated with workweek sleep deprivation.
On the other side, a study published in Current Biology echoes the original statement by saying extra weekend rest is not enough to make up for sleep lost. The science community has several opinions on the matter, and we’ll leave it up to you to make the final determination on how much sleep to get during the week and on weekends.
