With the growing popularity of television mediums such as Netflix and Hulu, binge watching has come to the forefront of habits for avid show watchers.
However, a new study has tackled the question regarding the relation between binge watching and sleep. Scientists from the University of Michigan and Belgium’s University of Leuven discovered that slightly more than 80% of their participants considered themselves binge watchers and of that number, 20% had binge watched at least a few times in a week over the past month. Among the people who identified as poor sleepers, one in three experienced poor sleep linked to binge watching. Scientists also discovered a link between binge watching and insomnia symptoms, fatigue, and poor sleep quality.
