When most people consider a mattress, they only think about how they will sleep on it. Very few take into consideration what the mattress may do in terms of their BMI (body mass index).
Research has recently shown that the quality and duration of your sleep can be as important to one’s health as diet and exercise. When shopping for a mattress, people with a BMI over 25 should consider mattress thickness. The higher your BMI, the thicker the mattress should be. Those who weigh between 250 and 400 pounds will be most comfortable on a mattress that is at least 10 inches thick. A firm mattress is also recommended for those with higher BMIs.
