While many people believe the use of cannabis can help those who suffer from insomnia, the truth is the success of it as a sleep aid is highly individual. There are still many questions to be answered and additional studies to be conducted, but existing research suggests the effects of cannabis on sleep may depend on a number of factors. Those include individual differences, the timing of use, the cannabis type and concentration, mode of ingestion, and frequency of use.
